Chevaux de la grotte - Contemporary horse Western art by Montana Artist
60 x 48 in (152 x 122 cm)
Acrylic on stretched canvas
About This Painting
This is a huge painting. It dominates a nine foot wall with energy and motion. When horses are in motion everything can seem as sound and fury of what appears to be controlled.

About Sandra Merwin
My art is about animals, nature, motion, emotion, spirit, gesture and soul. As a third generation Montanan, I've spent years studying the movement, carriage and structure of animals so that I can create expressive, fresh paintings that capture the natural movement of animals. I usually create paintings alla prima without any under drawing. This direct approach allows me to create an emotional spontaneity. I donate 20% of all my paintings to animal charities. I was recognized in 2006 by The Humane Society of the US, (NRRO) for my efforts in obtaining their 30 foot Mobile Animal Rescue Trailer. In 2007 and 2008 my art was an award for a National Humane Society of the US fund raiser. I am a founding member of Art Helping Animals. I'm committed to: creating quality art that benefits the animals. I've been painting full time for 11 years, have won many awards and have had my art featured on five magazine covers.
